The Diabetes Centre opened in 1984 as a teaching and treatment centre. Over the next 15 years we offered a four-day program, which included meals and daily visits with an endocrinologist.
During this time, an evening program was also developed to meet the needs of the working population.
Diabetes is diagnosed earlier now and we are changing to meet the needs of those living with diabetes in a faster, more technology-based world.
Today, the program offered is shorter (three, half-days), meals are no longer provided and we have changed our name to the Diabetes Health Centre to better reflect a renewed focus on self-management.
